More Can Be Less
When collecting, the first impulse that some never overcome, is to collect as much as possible. The Western obsession with quantity is probably a reflex of concept of unlimited growth, obviously possible only by the incessant conquest. The Chinese sage advises that selection is the way to wisdom and comfort of spirit. But noble minds are alike, so some centuries latter, Latin proverb advises the same although in a more general way, claiming that having more than necessary is harmful. Implying the sense of measure, it aims at the ability of wise judgement, - the need for wisdom.
